CELEBRATING
CINCINNATI'S
RISING STARS
CAPPIES OF GREATER CINCINNATI
Our mission is to celebrate and amplify the voices of students from all backgrounds, ensuring that our community is a welcoming space for everyone. Our focus is:
--To be 100% student driven review process
--To be 100% student driven award recognition
--To provide exposure to diverse plays/musicals
--To promote student confidence
--To promote local community awareness
--To promote development of tomorrow’s readers
The Greater Cincinnati chapter is anchored in its focus on 21st Century learning with its writing and awards program that trains high school theatre and journalism students to become better writers, more effective critical thinkers and servant leaders.
At the end of the school year, the student critics vote to give awards to their fellow students for outstanding productions, group and individual performances, and achievements in technical categories and critic writing. Awards are presented at the annual Cappies Gala at the Aronoff Center. The program is a regional chapter of the National Cappies Organization.
CURRENT PARTICIPATING SCHOOLS
Join the Cappies!
Greater Cincinnati Cappies engages students in teamwork, thoughtfulness, and theatre across the region. Participating schools create critic teams, whom they send to different shows across the area and write reviews for. The critics also come to see shows at all participating schools and get to meet students from other schools with similar passions.
Our program is always looking to reach more schools! If your school is interested in joining our program, please reach out to Program Director Mike Sherman at michael.sherman@cappies.org or visit the Board page.
At our annual gala, nominated shows get to perform on the same stage that graces Cincinnati's Broadway tours--The Aronoff Center's Procter & Gamble Hall!
